Description
The Maintenance Watchdog wireless condition monitoring system
automates collecting condition based maintenance (CBM) data in industrial environments.
The system includes precision piezoelectric sensors, laser tachometers, database storage,
and control/display/analysis software. All wireless units communicate through Wireless Access Points,
connected to the Data Controller. Data Controller provides database storage and performs
bridging the 914MHz wireless network to a cabled Ethernet network, eliminating expensive wiring costs.
Wireless transmissions are encrypted and error corrected to ensure secure and reliable data.
Hundreds of sensors can be easily installed, configured, and monitored from a networked PC.
Sensors can be configured to collect vibration data on demand
Operational Layout
A typical layout of the Maintenance Watchdog system consists of a Windows PC, 7044 Data Controller, 7043 USB Wireless Access Points, 7034 Accelerometers, and 7033 Laser Tachometers. 7043 units can be used as battery powered Active Repeaters. The wireless network is an automatically configurable network. Simply install the Data Controllers on an existing enterprise LAN, connect Wireless Access Points with overlapping coverage, and then install the wireless sensors on the machinery to be monitored. Machinery vibration data can then be monitored from a PC anywhere on the enterprise LAN or transmitted to a PC anywhere in the world via an Internet gateway. The system is easily scalable by simply adding additional Accelerometers, Wireless Access Points and Data Controllers as needed. In larger installations requiring multiple Data Controllers one Data Controller is configured as a master which contains the system database. Each additional Data Controller will transfer its data to the master Data Controller.
Components
7044000-1 Data Controller
The 7044000-1 Data Controller installation is quick, requiring only a 100-240VAC power source, a standard snap-in (RJ-45) Ethernet connection, and the IP address to get started. Up to four Wireless Access Points may be used together with one Data Controller to achieve the desired coverage.
- Up to 80G Data storage and MySQL 5.1 Database
- Four USB ports for 7043000-1 Wireless Access Points
- Configuration through WEB interface
- Software programmable IP address, subnet mask, and gateway
- Standard Ethernet with TCP, HTTP, FTP, SSH accessibility
- HTTP, FTP, NTP, SSH servers
7043000-1 USB Wireless Access Point
The solid-state 7043000-1 USB Wireless Access Point bridges the gap between the wireless sensor network and the 7044000-1 Data Controller. Unlimited number of Accelerometers and Laser Tachometers may share the same license-free wireless network hosted by one or more 7043000-1 Wireless Access Points, connected to the Data Controller. 7043000-1 works as Active Repeater when battery powered.
- USB connectivity
- Overlapping coverage permitted among 7043000-1 units
- Encrypted, error corrected, license-free wireless transmission
- Active Repeater capability
7034000-1 Wireless Accelerometer
The 7034000-1 Wireless Accelerometer contains a precision piezoelectric sensor, temperature sensor, digital signal processor, data memory, wireless transceiver, internal battery, and an internal antenna. Powered with an internal Lithium battery, the solid-state Accelerometer collects and transmits vibration data securely via a wireless link. The data collection parameters are configured from a networked Windows PC.
- Completely wireless, polling capable
- Vibration and temperature sensing
- 0.5 Hz to 10 kHz frequency response
- 1 Hz to 65kHz sampling speed, up to 65000 sample count
- Software selectable 5g or 50g maximum range
- Up to 250 foot wireless range
- Easy-to-replace battery with over 2 years of life (1 reading/hour)
- Standard " - 28 thread for stud installation
7033000-1 Wireless Tachometer
The 7033000-1 Laser Tachometer projects a visible laser beam which can be directed at gear teeth, timing belts, or rotating shafts to measure running speed. The Laser Tachometer is assigned a workgroup of wireless Accelerometers and measures the running speed whenever a wireless Accelerometer within its work group records vibration data.
- Completely wireless, polling capable
- 20 to 36,000 RPM range with 0.5 RPM resolution
- Requires reflective strip on rotating equipment 3 to 24 inches away
- Easy aligning visible laser beam
- Up to 250 foot wireless range
- Easy-to-replace battery with up to 2 years of life (12 readings/day)
Maintenace Watchdog A.5 Software
Database
World's most popular open source database engine MySQL. Instance of database is installed on
7044000-1 Data Controller. Database server and database can easily be installed on a client PC or on an enterprise server.
All system Data Controllers can easily be redirected to the enterprise server.
Web Interface
Web Interface allows configuring Data Controller.
Data Controller Web interface can be used to control system remotely over Internet.
LAMP open source WEB Interface can easily be ported to any platform.
Maintenance Watchdog A.5. Desktop
Maintenance Watchdog A.5. Desktop allows operators to manage the wireless sensor network.
The software allows defining environment hierarchy, setting collection specifications, scheduling collection times, data processing, displaying data, and performing analysis.
Each data point can be individualy programmed to display data in a different form with allowable data forms - waveforms, spectrums, and overalls trends of vibration data - acceleration, velocity, and displacement.
The client application provides notification for low batteries, and dangerous product temperatures.
